Review: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Post by Hclaxton »

Have you ever felt stuck in a life that just can't seem to be yours, there is no way this is your life? Well Me Before You shows readers just how this can be true. It all starts with a woman unsure of herself and who she wants to be and a Man who loves his life, his very happy, successful, and adventurous life... until the accident.

This novel is completely heartbreaking as you watch a man suffer through the mental and physical pain of being a quadriplegic. Will wants absolutely nothing to do with his new life and Lu only tries to help. Lu, Will's caregiver tries to make him see the light of life while also trying to see the light of her own life. She lost her job and being Will's caregiver is all that she is now qualified to do but she must do it in order to "bring home the bacon". She lives with her family and is the main supporter as well as mentally supporting her boyfriend "the running man". Paul (the running man) is a competitive runner and is totally wrapped up in that lifestyle while not paying much attention to Lu. She hasn't much ambition to become or do anything for herself because she is constantly living for others.

Will was a man of much ambition. He has seen the world and experienced life to it's fullest, however now that he is stuck in a wheelchair and can't do anything for himself he has lost all hope. Lu tries to help him and make him see happiness in life, but is having a hard time getting along. One afternoon she overhears some news that changes everything. I can't go in to much detail without ruining the story and you must read this story. You will be completely drawn in and want to see the light in your own life. This novel may bring tears to your eyes and the characters may make you angry at times but it proves that life may throw you curve balls and may not be what you expected, but we all have a reason to live, we just have to find the light.

I'm very happy I read this novel and I can't wait to read more of Jojo Moyes work, and you should too.
