Ratings are usually based on the number of books sold. To that extent, it is well known that some authors and individuals in the book trade manipulate figures on the exact number that a title may have sold so as to get it listed on a renown bestseller's list. To that extent, they and their books are "overrated". One should be under no illusions about the scale of shenanigans that go on in the book trade.

For elaboration read the article in this link...

Dan Brown too. Not great writing, just big sensationalist claims. I read a non-fiction book called The Jesus Scrolls years ago (not sure who the author was), and it was saying the same things in The Da Vinci Code, so it's not the first time things like that were said.
Yes. A brilliant plot. Not even Dan Brown could ruin it after he stole it.

Orhan Pamuk. I didn't learn nothing special from his book except how to get asleep faster.

Agree with you there ... I've read Snow, The Black Book & My Name is Red and all equally boring. I can't understand how he gets such kudos. You might ask why I read 3 of his books if I disliked them so much .... a bit of a masochist I guess.

:D this was exactly what I would ask you. But it's actually not such a big surprise. After reading Snow at the beginning I thought that may be there is something wrong with me. There were so many people saying he is the best author ever. I'm so happy I didn't read more books written by him.

My opinion...so no one attack me!! This is how i feel...it's my rant..not yours.

To me Stephanie Meyer is both painful and unnecessary. How could someone that has the word beautiful written 20 times on one page be considered a great author? If thats the case- Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous. Am i a great author? Didnt think so....

Maybe if that word had been cut from the book it would have been better. Probably not, but still. Maybe. Not.

Probably not...but i for one cannot wait until people start seeing Vampires as cruel and bloody Dracula instead of sparkly lovey-dovey weaklings again. Ugh.

I'm afraid this is probably not possible. If there are people who think a meat dress is awesome ... I expect the worse.
