Official Review: Avenger Mine by T.M. Slay

Holy crap. I don't think I've ever been more excited to write a review! This book was absolutely brilliant! It could be my own obsession with all things alien (which I blame Doctor Who for) but I couldn't put this book down. T.M Slay's latest installment in The Kataran Series is setting the bar for this series even higher. If Avenger Mine isn't the next big thing everyone is talking about; I'll be sorely disappointed in this generation of readers.
Aliens, badass warrior women, physic powers, mind benders, mortal enemies, romance! Honestly, what more could you possibly want? Jackson is the most powerful psychic on Canon Six, known as the Avenger. When killing is high on your list of job requirements, people aren't lining up to date you. It doesn't help that female Katara are few in number already. Marilena is the most powerful psychic living on Earth, completely unaware any more Katara even exist. After the Skimtar attacked the Katara a war for the ages had begun, unknowingly leading these two unlikely warriors together. What the Universe pushes together let no alien pull apart; my favorite Bible scripture.
Sparks fly immediately between these two, and I mean that literally. When the Universe actually starts to bond you after a first meeting, you know it's serious. Despite the initial shock, these two slowly begin to realize they're on the same side. While it isn't an easy rode, together they help one another grow, both in power and in character. Making their eventful battle with the Skimtar a truly epic one! Who doesn't want to train for war, while also planning a wedding? I'm pretty sure I've seen that episode of Bridezilla half a dozen times.
You've heard of Katniss Everdeen and Tris Prior, but get ready for the latest role model in badass women. T.M Slay has created the most wonderful character in Marilena. She is powerful in every aspect of life. Especially the sass department, a truly beautiful character. As if that wasn't enough, T.M has also crafted a love story that made even my cold heart skip a beat. Marilena and Jackson prove that neither have to give up, who they are, to make a relationship work. You can both be the most powerful psychic badass! Everybody wins!
Obviously I rate this book 4 out of 4. I've been raving about it to everyone, since the moment I finished it. The only complaint I have for this book is how quickly I started using the alien jargon created. Don't be surprised if you start using "by the Universe" in your everyday conversations. I recommend this book to each and every one of you. Seriously, go read this book. Actually, go rest the first one, followed by this one. Then come join me in eagerly awaiting the third book in the series. Trust me, you'll be happy you did.
Speaking of which, the end of the book contained a fun challenge from the author.

All kidding aside, I really enjoyed the review. You made the book sound so interesting. The cover is very nice, but it looks like it belongs in the Young Adult genre.

Thank you! It's probably more a book for YA, but I think older readers will enjoy it as well

I really like the part about the Universe bonding you together. I like the concept and wonder if it actually happens in real life. It kind of reminds me of that old expression about how you can search out your soul mates, or you can use this lifetime to make new ones.
