Oddly enough, T.L. Adams’ novella Angel of Destiny can be best described as a sexy Christmas Carol minus Christmas and seriously turning up the heat. T.L. Adams, an adult erotica romance novelist from Wisconsin, creates a world in which one can choose his or her destiny based on a glimpse of the future provided from none other than James, the Angel of Destiny. This story follows Matt as he is shown the two paths that his life can take, based on one major decision in his life. He could either choose to ask out Laura, the girl of his dreams, in order to settle down or he could choose to continue to succeed in his career and become the ultimate playboy.
After meeting James, the Angel of Destiny, James shows Matt pieces of both possible futures throughout his lifetime. Everyday that Matt wakes up; he is in a different future. This is both wild and jarring for Matt as it is the reader. This is one thing that I did not like about this novella. The transitions were happening so suddenly and quickly that while reading it I symbolically felt shaky. Not only were the transitions poor for determining which life Matt is currently in, T.L. Adams also lacked the finesse of transitioning between scenes in the novella. If the author would have added breaks in the text, this could have been avoided.
Another thing that I disliked about this novella is that there is not much character development throughout the story. At the end, Matt seems to be the same man as he was in the beginning. He has simply just obtained insight on his two possible future lives. Granted because the story is short there is not that much room for drastic character development, especially when the author is telling two extremely different possible lives that one man could live, but I would have liked to see Matt develop more as a character.
What I liked about this story is that it is truly a quick and easy read. Despite it’s complicated premise, the novella is written very straight forward to the point that you can predict what is going to happen next. This book is not going to challenge you, and sometimes that is exactly what a person might need. I also thought that this novella was very refreshing because it is written from a man’s point of view. I have found that rare in the erotic section and it is nice to have a change in pace.
Now moving on to what we have all been waiting to read about, the erotic nature of this novella. While I found the erotic scenes in this novella to be tastefully written, they simply were not that exciting. I think this is mainly because the scenes were relatively short, and also because there were simply too many of them. There was at least one sex scene in almost every chapter of this novella, sometimes two. I believe the sheer amount of erotic scenes in this novella had a desensitizing effect, especially because they tended to be similar to one another. I also found that the number of erotic scenes took away from the actual story line. I would have preferred the author to have more character development instead of some of the erotic scenes that never really stood out to me.
I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars, but if I could give partial points I would have given this novella 2.5 stars. I say this because the novella tells an interesting story that I truly believe some people would like, but it simply is not memorable. I believe that men would enjoy this novella particularly because it is written from a man’s point of view as well as because this novella briefly touches on some of the common fantasies that men could have sexually. Overall this was a quick, interesting read about Matt choosing his destiny that will have the reader wondering what they would choose.

I value honesty and will take your critique to heart. I will make some corrections to add breaks, so thanks for that recommendation.
I am new to writing so all of your other points are very helpful to me in my future writing.
Thank you again Colemaba for your honest review!
