Given I'm a non native English speaker my vocabulary is off sometimes. Having said that, I've a wonderfull friend who pre-reads all my articles which is very helpfull :)

Predilection.

(Sounds rude...)

For example if you have a predilection for books, it means you have a fondness/liking/partiality/penchant/taste for them. Nothing suss!

If there is a "no Latin" rule, I'd have to stick with quirkiness - a strange attitude or habit
