The premise is what drew me to the book in the first place. It sounded like a nice mix of romance, history, and comedy.

I have never been a fan of Henry VIII due to the repetitive spousal abuse. I mean, beheading does qualify as spousal abuse, doesn't it? The good news is he isn't as much of a central character as you would expect (no spoilers).-

I do think it counts - ha ha ha. Anyway, Anne Boleyn and Henry Fitzroy, Henry's bastard son, are prominently featured. This is a good thing because they are not as annoying as Henry VIII.

HA HA HA HA HA--that smiley (if you can call it a "smiley") cracks me up.

I am excited to read this--I still have the date marked on my calendar!! If I learn anything about history regarding Anne Boleyn or the other Henry, then that's an added bonus!!

The copy I read was an uncorrected proof prior to publication. I am interested to see if the book/series becomes popular once published. The premise of the series is certainly an attention-grabber. By the way, Anne Boleyn is a great character in the story. It made me want to learn more about her and Jane Seymour (the "wife in waiting").

Amazing review, bookowlie! I feel like I know everything I need to know about this book and more. Great premise. This book sounds overloaded (in a good way) with twists. And funny. The part about Beth and Tawney being suspected of witchcraft and spying sounds like a turn to keep someone glued to the pages. I'm with zeldas lullaby on this being a time travel story with something fresh. Applause to the author. And more applause. And yet some more. I need a break from the serious novels I've read this past month, so I'm looking forward to something that can make me laugh until my laughbox malfunctions.

Wonderfully insightful review. I almost picked this book, but decided on something else. It sounds like a fun read. I wonder if the author tightened up sections that were a bit long since your review. It seems like this book has a lot of potential.

Hi Leon! Thanks for the kind words. The book was overloaded, but not always in a good way. However, some of the parts were definitely funny. It's just disappointing that such a great premise wasn't executed well.

Hi Bluemel and thanks! I also wondered if the authors (two of them) might rework some of the book prior to publication. The problem is that there is no real plot in the entire first half of the story. I think that would be a difficult thing to rework. I still root for these two authors as there is definitely a lot of potential here.

Heck yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I'll report back after I read it. It's still preorder until the end of the month. For me, I think it's the festering wound that really sealed the deal. That could just be me, though.

When you get the book, I am curious if there will be any improvements to the book I read, which was an uncorrected proof.
