Ted Dekker or Frank Peretti?

I have to say both! I've read pretty much everything by both authors. They both like to write about similar topics, though Peretti makes the Gospel message a lot more obvious in his books. I feel like Dekker is more edgy in his style, and he's not afraid to push boundaries. He likes to make Christians uncomfortable by broaching subjects that most of the church views as taboo. It's very refreshing!

Thank you Killerchic777 for responding to my post. Your take on their books sound very interesting. I read This Present Darkness and I thought it was a little on the strange side. He seemed to deal with more demonic creatures rather than just plain thrillers. Are Dekker's books demonic as well or does it depend on the book? I know that the same could probably be said for Peretti as well. I still want to give a few of their books a try, or at least the ones that I own because I have several.

I read one book that both Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti wrote together called House. I enjoyed the book a lot. I thought it was intense and had a high amount of action and excitement. Which author do you prefer, or do you like both? Are there any specific books of theirs that you like more than others?

That is a tough question I have enjoyed both authors, but I would say I would lean more towards Ted Dekker. I loved his Paradise series, and just devour any of his books I can get my hands on.

I never read a Frank Peretti book, though House sounds like a book I would enjoy. I will read This Present Darkness as well.As for Ted Dekker, I have read all the Books of History Chronicles (Circle, Paradise and Lost, 13 books)and loved them all. Start with the Circle books, (Black, Red and White) then skip Green and do the Lost series next.

House was creepily amazing. For Frank I would suggest either This Present Darkness/Piercing The Dark together or Monster. In my opinion those are his best.

The first book I read that ever mentioned either of these authors was House as a lot of you are stating. Ted Dekker has been a personal favorite as I have never read anything by Frank Peretti, but with what you all are saying I just might have to check him out. As for Ted Dekker, if you want books that are more along the creepy factor like House I would recommend The Boneman's Daughters, Thr3e, and The Bride Collecter. They are all written with the same complex cast of characters and each of them has an amazing twist ending that you would never have seen coming. With reading creepy books by Ted Dekker it's kind of nice; since he's a Christian author he doesn't focus on heavy gore or hot/stupid characters to get the creepy factor through. I'm not saying all horror books or movies do that, but a lot of them do and it's refreshing to see something different that still makes you curl your toes into the carpet and jump at little sounds you hear.

While I enjoy both authors I tend to pick Dekker over Peretti most of the time. Two good books by Peretti that will have you looking over your shoulder are The Oath and Monster. The Oath really got me in to reading suspenseful novels. Some of my favorites by Dekker are: Thr3e, Forbidden, Skin, Adam, Saint, Thunder of Heaven, Heavens Wager, Showdown, and the Boneman's Daughter. Dekker almost never disappoints and generally his books are suspenseful.

Thank you literarycat, SheikL, KitKat_Reader, and KNewton for responding to my post. I have not seen the movie, and I actually didn't know there was one. I will make sure to keep it in mind though. Thank you KitKat_Reader for the information on Ted Dekker. I have the Bride Collector so I will definitely read that one sometime. It sounds like Ted Dekker is more my type. I do have both the Oath and Monster by Frank Perettie that I still want to read though.
