"no lunch ladies harmed" - hahaha. I loved this review! You have included great details from the book, and your review is interesting and a joy to read. Great job!

Venerable: accorded a great deal of respect, especially because of age, wisdom, or character.
Notice the or in this definition! Owlie has great strength of wisdom and character, especially for such a youngster as herself :)
I am looking forward to reading this book so I can banter more on this subject :)

Courtesy of dictionary.com, this is what I found:

impressive or interesting because of age, antique appearance, etc.:
a venerable oak tree.

extremely old or obsolete; ancient:
a venerable automobile.

Darn these dueling dictionaries. Oh, how they devolve into dastardly displays of divisiveness, dragging themselves into dissolution.

Wow, that was alliterative!! OK, I concede. How about a different word to describe BookOwlie? How about... :eusa-think: ... wizened? Oops. I take that back. I didn't know it meant what it does!!

Boy, what a way to describe me - as old as an oak tree and as young as a baby's bottom. Of course, a wise baby's bottom. If the two of you keep putting your feet in your mouths any further, your feet will wind up in your stomach. :laughing-rofl: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rofl: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rofl: :laughing-rolling:

Thanks Jesska! I figured it was fitting to include a light-hearted zinger in honor of the funny moments in the story.

HA HA HA! No kidding. I'm tasting foot right now. I don't think that "as young as a baby's bottom" is how the expression goes! But wow, yeah, that's pretty young!

To paraphrase Mrs. Lawrence from the book....
If Escapeartist and Zeldas_lullaby tell me I'm young, old, wise and to jump off a bridge, then I'm in charge!

Back to the book! It's really refreshing to see a mother-teenage daughter relationship where the mother can speak frankly to her daughter. I really enjoyed the scenes where Mrs. Lawrence discusses her new boyfriend Jared with Corey.

Sure thing, Officer BookOwlie!! :law-policered:

Thanks!! It's always a tricky topic with teens, I would imagine. I was always given the whole, "When you're grown up and happily married..." spiel. I've always been of the opinion that more information is better than less information. Like a was veterinarian once said, "If you don't talk to your cat about catnip, he'll hear about it on the streets."

Oops! I meant to say, a wise veterinarian!!

Plot sounds great. Can't imagine what I would've done if I was stuck inside a school building because of a snow storm, or something else, like a... darn, I'm missing the word here. It's on my tongue. I can just taste it. You know, that word when there's a viral breakout, and the military and scientists lock everything down. Man, what is it? Anywoo, good job bookowlie. I already have a good idea of what the book is about, and if I know zeldas_lullaby/Meg Kimball, than of course, this book is going to be a fun read.
