The Fixed Trilogy

Post by ariannapryor13 »

I had read all three books in the Fixed Trilogy by Laurelin Paige once before, but recently decided to read them again.
The second time around, I didn't really enjoy them as much as I did the first time.
One of the things I didn't enjoy was realizing how weak and dependant Alayna sounds. I understand that she's recovering from an obsessive illness, but you would think she'd have the sense to avoid someone as manipulative and suave and Hudson.
Also, as with most romances, the timeline is bothersome. I've never understood how someone can fall deeply and blindingly in love with someone in a matter of weeks. Especially when said person is so secretive and closed off. In my opinion, authors need to make this aspect of books a little more realistic. I know, I know, it's fiction, but this is something that has always bothered me.
As for Hudson, his domineering attitude could be quite the turn off from time to time. His inability to have a rational discussion with Alayna about his past and secrets hindered his growth. I guess I'm just kind of picky when it comes to romance novels.
Overall, the three of these books were well written and a quick, fun read. I'm just more of a romantic realist.

I just finished this trilogy last week. I loved that it was a quick and easy read and interesting enough to keep reading. I do completely agree with you on how quickly relationships seem to progress in romance novels and how absolutely unrealistic it is.

I have to say I love this series. I found them easy to read and I couldn't put them down. The time scale is unrealistic I agree but for me it didn't affect the way I felt compelled to keep reading. Maybe I will re read them and see if my viewpoint changes :-)
