What a fun read this was! I enjoyed every second of this book. The two characters are wonderfully funny and relatable and the twists and turns of this book keep you consistently on the edge of your seat!
The sequel, "The School for Good and Evil: A World Without Princes" is just as captivating and fun to read as its predecessor. The third book in this series is due out in 105 days!

Stop waiting for Prince Charming. Get out and find him. The poor idiot may be stuck in a tree or something.

Far beyond the woods, a school called the School for Good and Evil kidnaps two children every four years from their village. Agatha has no reason at all to attend the school, she never dreams of going there. Sophie, however, thinks that she deserves to be in the School for Good. One night, as expected, Agatha and Sophie were kidnapped by the School Master, only to find out the unexpected event. Sophie, the nice girl got her place in the School for Evil while Agatha, the witch, was placed in the School for Good.
In the first book, Agatha and Sophie believe there is a mistake about their placement thus, both of them try to go back to Gavaldon, their village. However, in the second book, both of them went back to the school to find out the school has changed into to the School of Boys and Girls. Here, both of them try to find the meaning of true love as any fairy tales would suggest, only to find out the hidden agenda of the whole thing. In the last book, the book that makes a lot of us cringe a lot, the whole school turns into the School for Old and New where Evils is overpowering the Goods. War erupted between these two sides and more legendary heroes and villains are revealed while Sophie and Agatha try for the last time to find their Ever After.
This last book is my favorite out of all three. This book blows up your mind and in my case, it succeeds in changing my perspective in a lot of things.
First of all, this book has a good plot and a realistic one. It's not too dreamy despite the fact that they are living in a magical world. Everything is carefully arranged throughout the book that keep the readers anticipate for the next pages. The continuous revelations of new elements in every chapter are amazing. Every chapter has it new story to tell, no draggy parts at all. All parts are necessary and that means, the 655 pages worth every single seconds and money you spent on it.
The idea of 'realistic' in a fairy tale seems a bit absurd, actually. But Chainani succeeds in making the book seems so realistic that all of us can reflect our own stories through the fairy tale he created. Chainani tells us that how you look does not necessarily reflect who you are. He also suggested through this book that, being lonely, doesn't essentially means you are suffering. There are so many other things to chase in this world, and it is not just a prince, it can be a friend too. Out of all, I can't believe that Chainani actually convinced me that Evil and Good can always be friends, because at the end, we always support each other.
Did I mention the plot twist? Oh yeah! No one ever makes a good plot twist as J.K. Rowling. No one. But, Chainani's almost reach the level of J.K. Rowling. Like, come on! Who would see that coming? Personally, there are parts that are predictable to me. I can see it coming, but the plot twist, is just incredible. You will never think of it.
Here comes my least favorite parts of the book. There are a few elements in the world building that is a bit unclear to me. However, I believe those are just minor ones. Doesn't affect the story much. I love the book, but, I wish I know a little bit more about a few things. Like, for example, I really want to know why the Storian choose to tell a few things, but not the other and how the Storian choose, based on what.
When it comes to the characters, I would say that I love most of them, except for one. Not that I hate him (Tedros), but his attitudes can be improved. Really. But other characters are just amazing and they are so funny. The sassy-ness makes the book so hilarious.
So, before I recommend this book to anyone, I just want to give out an alert. This series is one of the series that not all people love. As a fantasy lover, I love it so much. But, I do know people who put it down and give it just one star. You might not like it for the first time, but, maybe that's because you are not reading it at the right time. Or maybe, you really have issues with the idea of 'imperfect ever after', just like my friend said, "It might ruin kids' hopes." Soman Chainani, to me, is like Patrick Ness. Not everyone love them, but those who likes them is going to like them forever.
Last but not least, I highly recommended this whole series to everyone because in this book, there are too many lessons to be learnt. It shows you that happily ever after is not as easy as we think it is. Our lives come with commitments, so does happily ever after. What you see before 'The End' is not easy and even after 'The End', it is not easy too. This book will help a lot of kids out there to be more matured. It doesn't kill hopes, it gives new reasons to have hope. Not only to find the 'true love', but also, to find the 'real happiness'. I hope parents out there will consider giving this series to their daughters because to me, it is an essential read to every girl in this world. Even the grown ups.
