I think many people are in such a situation. They have plenty of good ideas that randomly appear in their mind. (Consequently, there is no dearth of original ideas out there.) However, because they did not give these ideas a sufficient gestation period of many months or even years, where, in their mind, they can see the idea developing and blossoming, they soon discover that theirs is an idea with little depth. As I've stated on this forum before many authors abandon writing a manuscript after a few pages, if not a few paragraphs, because they are unable to take their idea to 2nd or 3rd base, nevermind hit a home run with it.

In these situations there's two things you can do:

1) Modify the existing idea. If you find writing the story is boring, then imagine what reading it will be? Believe me, it's very easy to tell when an author is not interested in what he is telling, because the prose becomes flat and boring.

2) If you're just suffering from writer's block, then there is only one thing for it: force yourself to push on. Writer's block is quite literally ''in your head.'' For a lot of people, writing on a computer with an internet connection causes this.

ye..I like Gavinol idea..when you are stuck in the middle...try narrating the whole story to your friends and I am sure they will comeup with some ideas which would help you get the story done...you can have multiple story lines if you discuss with your friends and so you can choose the bestt... :)

I go outside and let my mind rest for a while at the park.
