Stolen: A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher

Post by kris_ann1215 »

Stolen by Lucy Christopher is an amazing read. From the opening line you know the prose will be beautiful as if it were going to be a poetic telling. I read the book in 2 nights (after the kids were in bed.haha) and once it was over I didn't want to let it go. A good writer can throw you into the life and events of the main character in a way that you feel like you are living a double life. I became Gemma and felt her confusion and her inner struggle as well as her physical struggles. Not only did Christopher give you life through Gemma but also through her captor Ty. Christopher made you feel for Ty and understand him in a way that you could actually see his reasoning for stealing Gemma. Thinking about this in letter format it becomes a very looong letter (a book in fact). But, there is nothing wrong with the format unless you over think it and realize "this is the longest letter I have ever read". There is so much feeling and heart in Stolen, I also hear that it's on it's way to becoming a movie! Lucy Christopher is writing the script herself even. Must read especially now that it will play on the big screen.
