Same here. I always read - and it means I have to manage to do other things as well. Most of all I love watching some show and reading. Just to have some background noise.

I have to first be really immersed into what I am reading before I can hope to do any thing else at the same time. Even though it usually just amounts to reading while walking.

I read while walking on the treadmill or when using my stationary bike. Anything more than that doesn't work. But it's not that I don't understand what I was reading. I get so involved with my reading that I miss everything else going on around me, even conversations lol

I'm pretty bad at multitasking. Like others above, I can eat and read but it slows down doing both of those processes when they're combined for me. Even listening to music and reading is problematic. Usually, if I'm listening to music that has lyrics it's too much so I'll switch to instrumental/classical music instead. In general, I need peace and quiet and to be stationary.

I cannot, for the life of me, pay attention to something other than the book in my hand. I've tried too--I've walked while reading and I run into things and people because I'm so absorbed. I will also ignore bodily signals, such as thirst and hunger, to finish a book. Not on purpose, that's just how singular my attention is.

I don't understand how people watch tv and read at the same time. Taking in two story lines at the exact same time would dramatically decrease my enjoyment of both. I do enjoy reading on the stationary bike. It allows me to feel like I am accomplishing something while I read, and distracts me from the monotony of hours on the stationary bike.

No..I can't multi-task at all and I don't want to try. When i'm reading my whole attention is on my book..I don't even want any music on, and I love music.

For me, it depends on what mood I am in. Sometimes I can listen to music, especially if I'm reading more casually, but other times I don't want to have any distractions.

No ways...

very irritating when i am enjoying a book and have to stop due to noise or some one actually wanting to talk.

struggle to concentrate while TV / series or movie or music is even playing in the background, often happens when i do not wish to watch what is currently on so i read instead while hubby watches TV

I don't think I can multitask whilst reading. My hubby reads in the bath - not sure I'd want to even do that though as I'd probably drop the book :)

Sometimes when I was too curious at a book, I tried eating meantime reading, but after almost ruining a book like this, I never did it again.

Yes I can watch tv while reading, listen to music while reading, do school work and read, exercise and read, and so on. With the school work though I typically have to do a little bit of work and then read a chapter or two as a break and keep going back and forth.

I find it extremely hard to do other things while I am reading. Sometimes, even quiet music will distract meif it catches my attention. I wish it didn't because it has stopped me reading too much! I have a friend that can read while walking down the street - completely baffles me!

When I read, I just read. I can skip meals, avoid calls, forget sleep.
