"Get paid to write" scams

Post by Wanton_Wordsmith »

Just curious: are there any legitimate "Get paid to write" websites out there? Does anyone have any experience with blogging for them? Or all they all just scams? What is your experience? Thanks!

Maybe some of them really scams, but not all of them. I work for one of such company and it's not scam at all :)

I got this website from an article featured in Womens Day magazine October 2014.

A few are scammy, or just underpay you for work that is very research intensive (I learned that the hard way). There are a lot of work from home websites that list legitimate jobs, especially for writers. I use the site someone listed above!

Yep I've been looking for these so called "Get paid to write" websites. Admittedly most seem to be either full of viruses or scams.

There are some legit ones. However, the pay is dreadful.

I will agree that most of those are either scams, or they underpay you. I've been using Zerys for a bit with both an editor and writer profile. However, when you're just starting out, you aren't paid much for what you're doing, since it's the cheap clients that allow the lower star writers to pick up work. The more you do, the better the jobs, the more you can get paid. It's a long process, and if you need quick money, it's not something I would ever suggest.

I know a few people who make a living by doing paid writing work. One submits pitches for op-eds, personal essays, etc, and takes random "get paid to write" work on the side. The other ghost writes web content for a bunch of websites that are mostly weird/boring/outside of anything he is an expert in (writing product descriptions, that sort of thing). In both cases the work is very piecemeal.
