The "Diary of Wimpy Kid" series written by Jeff Kinney are very good books that look at the humor and angst of a middle school student. The characters believe or not are true to life. The parents are a bit exaggerated, but these books are seen as through the child's eyes. The first book is mainly introducing Greg Heffley and his family and how he survives life as a middle school student. Each succeeding book in an ongoing series describes his daily survival with his older and baby brother along with his friends.

Each of the books details Greg's survival with dealing with the various issues and problems that a tween will need to figure out some way to improve their own life. These books teach lessons about dealing with homework, solving how to work with friends, dealing with parents and teachers. There are some scenes that will make you laugh and sometimes feel sad and let you see how some problems are not really problems at all. It is in how you look at things as a whole.

When you are reading this book from the beginning or just selected volumes of the series you will feel that you are reliving your past for adults will like the series too, if just for the memories of junior high or more commonly know as middle school. Kids reading this series will see comparisons to what they are doing and maybe will want to change the many various behaviors that are exhibited in the books and see that what worked in the books will not necessarily work in the real world.
