The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams

Post by lourdesinwonderland »

The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy consists of a series of three books: The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Restaurant at the End of The Universe and Life, the Universe and Everything. It narrates the story of an ordinary English man that is taken from his home by one of his friends on an adventure through the whole galaxy. It has an alarming sense of speed when it comes to facts, and can sometimes be confusing because of that matter. Nonetheless, it makes up to it by expressing a great number of jokes with british humor, combined with different facts about the physics of the universe that are ridiculized to the point of laughter.

I found myself sad at the end of the second book, and didn't really want to get along with the last one; when I finally did, I realized that my previous opinion was right: the second and third volumes aren't as good as the first one, and, to me, can be sometimes repetitives in their premises. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the trilogy and laughed out loud quite a few times with the various mischiefs of the characters. I recommend it to those who want to have a laugh reading something light and relaxed, since each of the books is only about 150 pages long.
