Nice, balanced review. I like you pointed out all the little, positive things about the book that the average reader might not notice at first glance. Also, you presented the negatives as constructive criticism. Well done.

Congrats to the author on receiving a positive review!

You made a good point about the book being interesting even while cautiioning against taking all of the content at face value. Sometimes readers will take every single piece of a book about religion as absolute fact.

I think that can be extended to a lot of non-fiction or even news articles. Just because it's written doesn't always means it's true. What I liked about this particular book is that it offers information that allows people to think for themselves and look at the Bible in a new light.

Great review! I enjoy reading books that discuss different takes on religion and the history behind religious rules. I am going to put this on my to-read list.

This was a good review. I respect that the Tanaya was able to provide an objective review on a book that discusses subjects that are very difficult to remain objective about. Thank you for this review!

Thanks! I appreciate your comment. I really did try to remain objective and critique the text on how it presents the information.

The Bible is a collection of different literary genres and there are also many ways of interpreting it. The literal, factual or inconsistencies in the Bible don't bother me, although I also don't feel the need to go out of my way to find them. What I might appreciate about this book is that it raises questions which hopefully can encourage more dialogue among religion, history and science.

Well said, and I totally agree. Which is why I enjoyed the book. It showed the tiny flaws throughout the book but also showed that the Bible has big, overarching problems when you fit it into certain contexts that don't go along with some of the knowledge we have today.

I might just read it for myself. There is something to be said about conflicting reviews to stir an interest in me.
