Empty Mansions

Post by Klompatron »

Empty Mansions by Bill Dedman and Paul Clark Newell Jr. is the most recent book I have finished and it was AMAZING. So full of history and facts I didn't know. Written about the life of Huguette Clark, this book also tells the story of her father, W.A. Clark, who made millions in copper. I'm not going to go into a lot detail, but it is fascinating. Full of history and art and what you could do if you had all the money in the world. It does jump back and forward in time a bit and you've got to concentrate to keep up, but I still highly recommend it. I couldn't put it down and finished it in two days.

I read this book for my library's book club and I did not enjoy it. I liked the beginning that focused on W.A. Clark, but when it got to Huguette I was bored.
