Illuminarium is a one of a kind book. The book is written in narrative style.
The cover is beautiful and erry at the same time.
Harper one of the main characters is a forensic psychologist who needs a break and goes to the forest to recharge herself. She is mysteriously guided by an owl to an old book.
She finds herself reading about is a young boy named York. He is a patient at Grayhaven sanitarium. It is a journal of sort taking you through horrible torture and mistreatment and pure evil at the sanitarium.
Harper is captivated by York and get drawn in to the tale a very old one, a battle of good vs. evil.
The characters are scary, psychotic and very graphic as the author layers insight after insight in to another world. The book is a story through a multidimensional tale happening at the same time the characters are developed to keep moving forward and figuring out who is who.
My life has been affected by the book.

The title called my attention and man, this review gave the creeps. I suppose it speaks for the book. Can it be read as a standalone? Thanks for this!
