Running With Scissors.
1.) When Augusten's crazy mom starts dancing in the imaginary ceiling snow.
2.) When Augusten's running after Bookman/ the Hamburger helper scene.
3.) The ending.

I dont know why. This movie, and all of Augustens books, really hit home for me. Normally it's a twistedly disgustinglly funny thing, but RWS always get's me.

Really? I did enjoy The Lovely Bone but felt the movie worked well as a fantasy thriller rather than an overwrought weepie, i cant recall any scenes which tugged on my heart strings. Of note to me is the fate of Stanley Gucci, which i remember the most :D
what? a fantasy thriller? you're just heartless... :D

To me The Lovely Bones is a fantasy at heart; yes there are some powerful elements of drama in there but i think Jackson's main theme was that of a magical and otherworldly afterlife where Susie just happened to be watching over her family. It certainly doesnt shamelessly tug at the heart strings like say, Marley and Me.

Well, I felt awful for the people Susie has left in the movie...that's heavy drama for me...

Surprisingly, Marley and Me did not make me cry... :P

Marley and Me got me haha, because I had basically the same thing happen with my dog... Except she was crazier, and did go clinically insane and became extremely aggressive.

Yeah My Sister's Keeper got to me, I have a tight bond with my sister so just thinking that anything like that could happen to us... I don't want to go there haha.

You know, Hatchi is another sad doggy movie apparently.

Marley and me was sad i agree but it was a very manipulative film in that way only Hollywood can get away with...with the long drawn out string music as Marley breathed his last and the huge close up of his adorable eyes just when you least expect it and then Owen Wilson crying afterwards...all the while kids and adults across the world are weeping into their popcorn.

Its a sad film but its funny to think that we can watch thousands of people get shot, stabbed, tortured and maimed but wont bat an eyelid, and yet the second it looks like a Lab will pop his clogs, grown men turn to mush....

I saw Hachi and enjoyed it wasnt overtly sad, its a true story dont you know. :D

As we're on a 'doggie' theme, anyone see 'Red' - the movie starring Brian Cox? It was about a reclusive man who sets out for justice when three obnoxious teenagers kill his dog for no reason just sheer badness.

I'm not an animal person (nothing against them just not for me) but this movie had me in floods.

I'm no movie critic but I thought it was a super film and it certainly made me cry ... admittedly not so much the killing of the dog as the sheer obnoxious behavior of the three lowlifes.
Not to give anything away but the elderly man (Brian Cox) fairly sorts them out ... don't cross the oldies! But of course it didn't bring his dog back.
I think it came out around 2007 - I saw it on DVD

Hmm, im intrigued, i will definitely see this. I like all dog movies, if even to compare the corny ones to the well acted ones. Thanks for the tip. :D

Yes, Hollywood does manipulate everything. But for me it was just what happened to the dog, not the dramatic music, sobs of the family, and close ups... I've seen tons of movies like that and don't think twice haha.

I've heard of Red, but haven't seen it.
Reminds me of Where the Red Fern grows, another doggy movie, and Old Yeller haha.

It's a real weepie right enough ... but there is a superb twist in the story too which IMO lifted it & makes it more than just a tear jerker.

The end of The Elephant Man got me and still does. The way that he wants to sleep like a normal human being, it makes me weep just thinking about it.

The movie never says so, but it's a practical parable about the debate between pro-choice and pro-life. If you're pro-life, you would require Anna to donate her kidney, although there is a chance she could die, and her sister doesn't have a good prognosis. If you're pro-choice, you would support Anna's lawsuit.
