Amazon purchased Audible back in 2008. Audible is an app that allows you to listen to your audio books from any device that has playback capabilities. I downloaded the app on both my Android phone and PC. I found that it allowed me to use both devices seamlessly, picking up wherever I left off. This was definitely a plus.

For review purposes I downloaded Murder House by James Patterson and David Ellis. The audio reader gave me different voices depending on the character. There were two main characters in the story line and the voice changed based on the perspective of the character.

I rate this app 3 out of 4 stars as it delivers what is expected from an audio reader. It tells the story. The basic functions are in place; play, pause, rewind, and fast forward. The capability to adjust the reader speed is also present.
The chapters as read by the speakers did not match up to the chapters presented. For example according to my bookmarks, my book had 27 chapters. However, according to the speakers there were over 100 chapters in the book. This was a bit confusing for me in the beginning. Another issue I had was when I downloaded the app on my PC. This experience was not as user friendly as the installation from my mobile phone. The book was not in my library but in my online library.

Based on the help section for Audible users should be able to manually add content from their computers to the app. However, the instructions did not work for me. I added the content to the path specified and refreshed the app and it never showed the new content. Additionally, I navigated to where the file was placed and there was no option to open it with the audible app.

On the plus side as to be expected from Amazon, thanks to Kindle integration there is a large collection of books. Additionally, your audible books can be delivered to the cloud so as to not take up device storage. I do not think I will keep my membership past the 30 days but that is because I read faster than the audio book reader can read to me. Although the speed is adjustable, the increased speed does not seem natural. So a book that would have taken me some 3-5 hours ended up taking me about 3 days. However, overall, I would use this app again and I would recommend it to someone else.
