a good book related to dragons
I'm looking for a good book or series of books related to dragons. I know that there are a lot of those, but I'm looking something really good.
An example could be the Inheritance Cycle trilogy by Paolini or The Barbarians trilogy of Dragonlance series.
Perhaps someone could recommend something well worth reading?

Did you ever see the feature length cartoon version of Flight of Dragons? It took the "science" from the book and blended it with the story from a novel by the same author called The Dragon and the George. The main character is named Peter Dickinson. It was one of my favourite cartoons growing up and I would still love watching it nowJp1978 wrote:A very short non-fiction book I love is "The Flight of Dragons" by Peter Dickinson. It might not exactly what you're looking for right now but you might like it.

Dragoniel, might not be what you had in mind, but a (very old-fashioned) dragon book from my own childhood is Green Smoke by Rosemary Manning. It's the story of a girl called Susan who meets a charming, very cultured dragon on holiday in Cornwall. Worth picking up if you fancy a lighter read!

I've read the Earthsea Cycle not too long ago. It's not bad, but I wasn't particularly enthralled by the concept of magic and dragons there... well, lets just say it's not what I would read the book for.
The Dragonriders of Pern looks very interesting and His Majesty's Dragon description on Wikipedia is intriguing indeed.

Surprisingly star-studded, too... Omadon was voiced by James Earl Jones (i.e., Darth Vader); Carolinus the Green Wizard was one of the guys from M*A*S*H; Peter Dickinson was voiced by John Ritter from 8 Simple Rules and Three's Company; and the theme tune was composed and sung by Don McLean!

Someone had mentioned Anne McCaffrey and her Pern series. She is to dragons what King is to horrow. Simply the best at what they write.

I absolutely love this series. The first three books are from a different clutch-mate's perspective, beginning before they hatched from the egg. They all had very different experiences. After the first three, they reunite and the books kind of go back and forth from one to another. Their varying points of view on the same events. I love it.Tip the Bottle wrote:E.E. Knight has a series of books called 'The Age of Fire' series and is told from the intelligent dragons point of view. A great series, well the first book was great I honestly haven't read the others....lazy I guess.

Have you read George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series? (I just mentioned this in another thread. It's absolutely good enough to monopolize a few of my first posts to this forum!
