Rise of the Boy God written by Samuel Mogbolu is a fictional book written in third-person perspective of the characters. The book's theme focuses on not losing faith, regardless of the circumstances. The Rise of the Boy God is about Simon, a high-school student, famous for being the son of the mayor who suddenly seems to have gained magical properties after an encounter with the high school bully. While Simon attempts to find out the cause of his spurt of abilities, a dangerous game of politics is being played between his father and the council, with both sides attempting to gain leverage in any manner possible. However when Simon discovers the answers to his new-found abilities, the web of enemies close in, and yet another unknown external force interferes, leaving the future of Simon dangling.

This book is very interesting due to the number of twists and turns that the plot takes, just when the book appears to become predictable, another plot twist shows up. I loved the never-ending amount of excitement mixed with events of daily life and the diversity of the characters involved especially since I enjoy reading action books. However, the grammar needs work, although I am sure this is only an effect of the process of creating the story first and then editing it.

I rate it a 4 out of 4 because I definitely loved it, so in my opinion, it was not deserving of a one, which to me means that it was boring. In addition, my stance on it was not indecisive, which would be a rating of two and I am almost confident that most readers would love this book. Finally, a three for this book just seemed too low for this story, for I have virtually no complaints.

This book affected me by reminding me that hard work usually pays off and reminded me yet again, not to judge someone by appearances. The latter is especially important due to the kind of society we live in, which is usually focusing on clothes, make-up, and the way that people present themselves causing us to forget that you cannot tell how someone will act or what their personality will be just by looking at their appearance.

The author really stresses the theme of having faith and introduces the possibility of external forces acting upon our lives every day. He also encourages the readers to look at life with a different perspective that the story introduces.

Wow, thank you for such a glowing review. I never would have dared to view the book from such a perspective. And yea, i get the part about grammatical mistakes. Last minute re-editing is always a bad idea xD. I really needed to see something like this today, I'm virtually on cloud line right now. *whistling* 4 stars, 4 stars, 4 stars, whoowee!
