Great review, blumel4! I used to love vampire stories, and every once in a while I can still find one that holds my interest. Too bad this one didn't do a good job in following through to make it an awesome story.

You did a great job highlighting the areas that need improvement. I'm not a vampire fan so I may have actually liked the downplay of the vampire qualities, but I can see how the target audience would be disappointed.
I would not be able to get past the poor character development though...that is one thing I can never overlook in a book!

I wondered the same thing about it being a "vampire" book. It really could have been just a long living race.

Great job on this review! I agree with the other comments, the story would have felt more original if the name for this other race was anything other than a name that comes with so many preconceived ideas. The placement of the story in 19th century Savannah, GA does seem interesting though.
