Lunar Chronicals

Post by Ida »

I've just finished the last book to date in the Lunar Chronicals series and am impatiently waiting for the last one, Winter (Marissa Meyer). Has anyone read and enjoyed these too? The themes of the old fairy tales is woven through a modern space age, complete with mind manipulation and cyborgs.

I just finished the very first book and was completely shocked with how well it turned out! Reading a book on recommendation of a parent doesn't normally turn out to be such a beautiful experience.

Even through the bits that are futuristic, there is the underlying feel of fairytale, and even when you think you sort of have the feel of what may happen, it is twisted in an unexpected fashion.

They are really imaginative and not so honey sweet about the potential romance between the prince and Cinder as I thought it might be. The next book is great too. Introduces some new elements. I think I'm going to reread the first one. Let me know what you think of the second and if you have any recommendations for similar books!

I really enjoyed the first and third one. I dont know what it was about Scarlet but I found it a bit boring. I love how they combined the future with past fairytales though. Since Cinder I'm always on the lookout for fairytale retellings.

White wing - yes, Scarlet is a little irritating and #2 was the least entertaining. She is feisty and go getting but some how still bratty? Its been a while since I read 1 and 2 so I need to go back because I only have a vague feeling of irritation and can't think why!

Grief is just love with no place to go.
