Official Review: Opinions on Everything, by Nobody

Opinions on Everything, by Nobody by Mark Ryan is a politically charged adult non-fiction book, full of opinions on all of America’s most sensitive and controversial topics. It is written in a conscious stream of thoughts and questions straight from the author’s brain to paper. He discusses everything from illegal immigration and gay marriage, to gun rights and health care. The author goes through each topic and discusses his personal opinion on the subject and how it relates, or should relate, to the everyday citizen. Ryan often writes in a sarcastic tone, and at times is often condescending to the reader. The reader must keep in mind that the book is full of opinions, and that these opinions belong only to the author.
Ryan’s opinions will please right wing conservatives and those that have a more traditional mind set to how our government should be run. Anyone who share’s a similar political mindset to the author, will enjoy reading his opinions. To those that lean to the left, and have a more modern political mind, beware! This book is not for you. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy looking into other people’s minds, and who are not easily offended by other’s political views.
When I first chose to read this book, I was expecting a stimulating, thought-provoking book that would maybe open my mind to some topics I hadn’t really thought about before. I was left disappointed, because the book was really one-sided. The author didn’t take into consideration any alternate opinions in his monologues. I really disliked this, because I would have preferred more of a debate style book than a one-sided rant. I also would have liked to see more facts to support the author’s claims within the book.
I appreciated that the author stuck to his view points. I like that the book did bring about some very valid points about each topic. While these points may not be popular, most had reasonable arguments to be convincing to the reader. There are some thought provoking suggestions and claims that could lead to some readers changing their political views.
I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. I chose this rating, because I feel that unless you agree entirely with the author’s views (or have no political affiliation) that this book will not be enjoyable. I did not find pleasure in reading it, because most of my personal views were conflicting with the author. Some readers will enjoy it, and others will not.
