I read lots of books in high school, but would have to say my favorite during that time was Danielle Steele.

Stephen King, but I drifted away because it seemed like he was writing from a recipe after a while.

My taste has always been pretty diverse. In high school I alternated between Stephen King and Ovid (yes, the ancient Roman guy blackballed from Augustus' court). Stephen King sent me to worlds worse than the one I was living in, and taught me some perspective. Ovid was earthy and funny. Who else would write a sarcastic eulogy for his paramours parrot or a love poem lamenting the lost of her glorious hair due to defective hair dye?

I would have to say my favorite author when I was in highschool was Jodi Picoult. I loved her writing style and the topics she wrote about. Mostly all of her books or at least the books that I have read brought up real life topics that relate to ethics and/or morals. Her books make it easy to identify with the characters and challenge you to distinguish right versus wrong, especially when the right thing to do may have a negative outcome. Jodi's books have made me realize that sometimes the ethical and moral principles don't always go hand in hand because ethics is applied to more than one person whereas morals are individualized. Following the ethical principal doesn't always seem fair to the individual but is fair to all parties involved. Her books force you to face your own personal beliefs and help you to discover who you truly are.

Marion Zimmer Bradley. Unfortunately that's been spoiled by recent news about her character. :(

My favorite author in high school was James Patterson. I could read his books all day long and never get enough of the characters and the world he creates.

I absolutely loved Terry Goodkind! I loved the fantasy world he created in the Sword of Truth series and even once sketched a scene from one of the books.

it might seen a bit amature but my favorite author throughout highschool was, and still is, j.k rowling. i grew up with the harry potter series and highschool was he peak of it all. it was amazing to see how her mind worked for years and how all of those miniature details i had bypassed in previous book made all the difference in the end; subliminal messages intrigue me.

My favorite author in high school would have to be Stephen King. My favorite book he wrote would have to be "Insomnia," although "The Shining" comes in at a close second!

Wow. It's been a long time since I was in high school. I think my favorite author at that time was probably Carolyn Keene. I enjoyed reading about all of Nancy Drew's adventures.

Kate Mosse! Loved her book Labyrinth in high school. I haven't read it in a few years and need to pick it up again. Of course J.K. Rowling as well. That was when I really started getting into the Harry Potter series.
