What it takes to be a Content Writer

Post by Therabreath »

I have been writing contents for the last few months... A newbie, you might think but I am proud to say that I have written a lot and I am still accepting bulk of jobs. The secret is, start and your creative juices will flow continuously. When you feel the need to rest, you have to nap even for 5 minutes and you will find how helpful a short nap can be. A writing job could be so much demanding but if you have the right sources and if you are well-read, it should not be a task. Do something that you are passionate about - earning will just be a bonus. It feels good to see your writings on a web page, unedited.

I agree the more you write the quicker you write the next piece of writing.
Still i'm sure quantity has bad impact on quality. It's better to write fewer, but more prolific. But this is my point of view.

Content writing jobs needs perseverance and patience, it is the approach of creating the content. This includes, your understanding the requirement, the research and your writing speed. Content writing is not a place to show your command over the vocabs rather it should be so simple and lucid that it can be well understand by children and adults.

I have been adding content to places like HubPages and Factoidz, not to mention my own blogs. There are no deadlines, but there certainly are the requirements of the different sites to keep up with. And then I have to promote everything myself. It's looking like if I don't spend more time on promotion than on adding new content, I don't get much off-site traffic. It's search engine traffic that makes money.

So, Periwinkle47, you must be working on some kind of contract content writing. How does that work? I suppose some mixture of what you do and what I'm doing would be good for cash flow. I suppose you have gotten paid a one-time fee for content and never see another nickel for it. I have gotten virtually no up-front payment, but I'm still making some money every month from my very oldest articles.

To became a good content writer Learn to avoid common grammar errors. Beware of run on sentences which can be fixed by breaking a sentence into two parts. Use proper capitalization. Always punctuate your sentences correctly. Spell words correctly every time. Also, be aware of homophones, which while they may be spelled correctly, may mean something completely different.

Content writing is something I've always been interested in, but I've never been sure of how to go about getting started. I don't exactly have a large body of work to fall back on for a resume, and by that, I mean I don't have anything at all.

You need to come up with fresh ideas and interesting topics that readers will enjoy reading your article.

I agree with Zeke, something catchy and new usually works.
But then again, novelty's never go out of style... I think as a writer you need to write about something YOU are passionate about.

Like Nigella said passion is a great motivator for cranking out quality articles. There are websites out there that are looking for writers that are experts on a particular area. These sites look to the writers to share their experiences with the readers that visit their website to increase their own knowledge on a particular subject.

You can also create your own website where you speak to your viewers through your written word about a subject you are passionate about and have a lot of experience with whether it be zen, art or motorcycle repair :P
