Thanks Shelley and Sarah! I really enjoy these types of books where you can learn about the culture of a place. In this case, the author and his wife had to adjust to living on a remote island after being used to living in England.

The premise of this book sounds interesting, but due to the uneven pacing, need for possible additional editing, and somewhat confusing switches between past and present, I may just stick with having read the review. Especially since it's so expensive on Amazon... (At least in my cheapskate opinion...)

Wonderful book review, bookowlie! I've never been to Croatia, but this seems like a book that would teach any reader a new culture. Getting up and starting a life in a new place is something that my husband and I are currently doing (not in Croatia, but somewhere foreign to us anyway), and it's such a crazy experience!
