New Megiddo Rising: An “Apostates” Novella (#0) by Lars Teen

Post by misty103 »

Prior to reading this book I had never heard of Lars Teeney before, but now that I have read New Megiddo Rising: An 'Apostates' Novella I find myself interested in reading more books by Lars Teeney. I enjoyed reading about the world that Lars Teeney created. I was amazed by how detailed every aspect of both the world and the over controlling government was. The author truly spun the story together, as different elements meet and collide the plot unfolds. I struggle to classify this book in one genre as it has aspects of many genres in it; if I had to pick one genre I would suspense or action. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to spend some memorable time in the pages of a different world. I was sent a copy of this book for review purposes.

New Megiddo Rising
An “Apostates” Novella
by Lars Teeney

The story of New Megiddo Rising by Lars Teeney was an excellent read. The one thing that I liked most of all is that the author took the time to do the translations. In many books this is not done. This really helps the reader to understand what is going on. The story flips the immigration problem around. With Americans going over the border to Mexico. Americans are outnumbering the Mexicans by 2 to 1. This takes place in the future, where people are fed information by “Virtue-Net” to control them. The “Apostates” are against all forms of control. The church plays a controlling factor as well. Pushing forward an all out rebellion. Neural implants are the new form of communication. The Law of Virtue Enforcement Rangers or L.O.V.E.R., as they are known are the controlling force. One of my favorite lines from the story. “He had heard stories of the material wealth of America; that escapism had been a lucrative market.” Kate Schrubb daughter of the President of New Megiddo hires Rodrigo to kill her husband. Her husband name was Martino Franco. Author Lars Teeney creates a world of the future where the citizens are controlled by the church rather than the government. His characters breathe with the life of adventure. The drug of choice is “Database” or knowledge I would suppose. Of course the church handles the distribution of the drug. Well written with an ending that whets your appetite for the next book. I look forward to reading more by this talented author.
