I enjoyed reading your thorough review. Tales of the author's road trips to exotic places sounds interesting, especially since I always like learning about places I haven't been to. I also like memoirs so I am going to take a second look at this one.

Great review! I think this is another book that will bring tears to my eyes. Almost all memoirs do. :(

As I am often on the receiving end of medical intervention, I am looking forward to reading something from the opposite perspective. This sounds like an interesting, thoughtful read that will give some insight into why practioners adopt the attitudes and bedside manner they often do with patients and how they cope with seeing such inspiring highs and harrowing lows on a daily basis.

At times it felt like reading an engaging medical drama. At others it felt like a casual conversation with a best friend on a country porch, contemplating everything from life to the closing day. In reality, this memoir is the touching, humbling journey of a doctor and the people he's encountered along the way.
This review almost moved me to tears the way you described this man's story. Wonderful job. I will be reading this book in the future.

After reading this review I am even more excited to read the memoir. To see how his life changed both professionally and personally and to be reminded to always love life to the fullest.
Congratulations to P_hernandez on a terrific review and to Greg Stidham, MD for writing an exciting piece of nonfiction!

Your review seems to encompass all of the details that would take us through the story that is his life. It would be wonderful to read about such a great journey and how he feels looking back at it from the perspective he has now! Thanks for the great review!

I'll admit that the sad parts, the parts dealing with death, might be hard for me. However, I did download a copy and will give it a try because of your illuminating review. Wonderful job!

Wonderful review. This sounds like an excellent memoir. I love that the author stayed humble while providing the details of his achievements. I've always been curious about doctor's lives behind the scenes. Congratulations to the author for receiving this high rated review.

Two things the reviewer mentioned make me very excited to read this book. First, I'm looking forward to reading about a doctor who portrays himself in all of his "hats" - the ones he wears with his family, at his place of work, and in his own head. Second, I'm thrilled that he speaks with compassion and consideration. It's easy to complain about people, and the reviewer pointed out that he doesn't ever put people down. Thanks to the reviewer for a great review, and thanks to the author for a free book!

Great review. Can't say that I've read many medical stories or memoirs but it does sound interesting.

I normally don't read a lot of this genre, but the first few pages of this book caught my attention. I'm definitely going to read the rest of it. The author has a warm, compassionate writing style. I feel this book will touch people in a special way.
