My favorite authors in high school was Lurlene McDaniel, Caroline B. Cooney, and R.L. Stine. If I had to pick my favorite I'd have to say Lurlene McDaniel. She hits you right in the heart.

I had so many in high school- and my tastes were always changing. Early high school it was probably Danielle Steele or VC Andrews. Once I hit about 15 or so, I drifted more into the horror genre- once I picked up Stephen King I never looked back.

J.K. Rowling without question. The Harry Potter books are what first got me into reading and they will always have a special place in my heart. The depth of the characters helps to create a personal connection with them and you feel as if you know them. The themes are incredibly complex and taught me on matters such as mortality, morality and love. Apart from that, I love the world she has created and the stories themselves are incredibly entertaining and fun. J.K. Rowling has provided me with an escape with from day to day life into a world that feels unique to me.

An interesting question, considering how long ago (or recent) high school is/ was. I read the works of whichever authors I could gain access to, going through a variety of genre phases. An author I regularly returned to (and still do) is Isaac Asimov, not just for his Foundation Series, but also his shorter fiction. Considering his collaborations with Robert Silverberg, I would need to give the title to both authors, Silverberg was a prolific Science Fiction author in his own right.

I read a lot of books by Agatha Christie because in high school I was really into suspense and criminal type books.

High school? Hmm, I want to say I read a lot of James Patterson novels. I did a project on F Scott Fitzgerald early on as well, which lead me to read not only all of his novels but all of his short stories and biographies as well, so I guess you could say I was and still am kind of a nut about him!

I really don't remember reading much just for fun when I was in high school. That being said, my senior year was when I was introduced to the Series of Unfortunate Events, which started my addiction to Lemony Snicket. Although I loved reading Goosebumps, Saddle Club, etc. while growing up, I think I fell out of the reading habit after middle school as I became more active in other activities. After college is when I really jumped back into reading books for fun and now I am addicted...and I still like to read the new series (All the Wrong Questions) by Lemony Snicket.

I really loved Jodi Picoult. I was in a women's lit class in high school and we were all obsessed with her. Our teacher sent her an email from all of us and she replied! She'd just gotten back from walking her dog and took a second to reply to us.
It meant so much to all of us that she replied and it added an extra dimension to her work.
I still read her books and love them!

I was absolutely devoted to Tamora Pierce, Mercedes Lackey, and Anne McCaffrey in high school. I would reread my favorites once or twice a year and pounce on anything new by them that came out. I was super into Anne Bishop too, but only the Black Jewels books - once she moved on to other series I pretty much ignored her new stuff.
