I just finished reading Rooftop Sunsets: a story about finding lasting love in New York City. This book had a very relatable story-line, and the author did an exemplary job in developing the characters . I was impressed with the amount of details that were given for the characters personalities and appearance. I had no problem painting a mental picture.

The main character Desiree is a twenty-four year old woman, who wants to become an actress in New York City. However, after three years she still hasn't amounted too much. She is still at a dead-end job and her love life is a complete mess. Her two best friends Olivia and George are also trying to make their way in life, be successful and find themselves. And even though Desiree commits some major transgressions threw out the story they continue to stick together.

What makes this story stand out, for me is how the story unfolded. The author took you on a journey along with their characters. As I read, I got to know they are, their individual stories and what made them who there are. By the end George, Olivia and Desiree seem to have it together. They become stronger, more mature individuals in the end.

I would rate Rooftop Sunsets & Cocktails three out of four stars. I didn't give it a four out of four stars because I felt it had too abrupt an ending, it felt rushed. I really wish it had an epilogue. To me the story just needed that added little bit to fill out the ending. I just couldn't give it the full stars without those changes.

In the beginning I was shocked how vain and unlikable the characters were that I almost stopped reading it. But at the end of the story I realized it really added to the story line. I'd advise anyone that's thinking about not finishing the book to continue, it gets better ! Without that stuff in there it wouldn't be the huge dramatic chance in the characters personalities. Which just makes the story so much more relatable. I ended up reading the book rather quickly. In less than twenty-four hours. I guess that shows how much I actually did enjoy reading it.

It's an easy read about a young woman and her best friends, George, a doctor, and Olivia, a talented singer/chef just trying to figure out life. As Desiree continues to learn from her mistakes you really get into the book and start rooting for her. What I really liked about this book was it was really relatable and didn't have to heavy of themes. It wasn't overly explicit or erotic in nature. It seemed like it could be for younger adults who enjoy the fantasy of finding true lasting love. In the end I found this to be an interesting book. And can honestly say I wouldn't mind reading other stories by Alexa Fernandez.
