I definitely recommend Brown Girl Dreaming, In the Land of Armadillos, and the Divergent and 5th Wave trilogies! I'd be wary of In The Land of Armadillos since it's a compilation of stories about the Holocaust, though.

I would also like to say that just about anything by Rainbow Rowell is pretty great! My favorites are Fanfiction and Eleanor & Park. Both are light-hearted but dwell into darker topics such abuse within the family.

I love the YA genre. I got into it when my children were teens so I could keep up with what they were talking about and I never looked back. There are so many great series; Harry Potter of course, the Divergent series and the one I'm reading now by Laini Taylor called the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. I'm on the last one and I can't put it down.

I think Roy Huff's books are quite popular and refreshing for the time being at Amazon.

Last year (or maybe 2 years ago), I found this amazing author Chanda Hahn. Let me say (?) it a little louder: CHANDA HAHN. She is absolutely amazing with both her series The Iron Butterfly and Unenchanted.
I thought I was going to break my Kindle 3 page turn buttons for both series. She writes with lots of imagery and keeps your appetite for the book with all of the plot twists. Simply amazing.

Anyone else?

I love all kinds of books, but one I read most recently was Crumbling Walls by Laura Strandt. It is a YA romance/coming of age novel about a girl on her porch and a boy on his bike. Emily is a quiet girl on her porch who catches the eye of Jack Callaghan. Emily has a few secrets she keeps, and her lifestyle is vastly different from Jack's. Along the way, they learn life has its good and its bad. Jack learns the journey from child to adulthood is not a walk in the park.

It is definitely a great read.

To be honest, I am not entirely sure where Harry Potter truly falls; as far as children, young adult, adult. I realize that it wouldn't fall squarely within the adult category, but it seems as though just as many adults have read the series as younger teens and children have. If considering the series a young adult series, or at least one that young adults will enjoy, the seven are my absolute favorite. J.K. Rowling is incredibly talented and creates an amazing story line and fantastic characters. It seems to me that "the boy who lived" will forever be famous.

My favorite series right now is the "Throne of Glass" series my Sarah Maas, and I have to say that all of her books have made my favorites list. She writes strong, female characters along with well developed men that other series sometimes seem to lack. The relationships that evolve in all of her series between characters are articulate, and very relatable. Not only that, but the romances that occur are more plausible than the "one true love" stories or the love triangles. I fell in love with all the characters, and the antagonists were so well rounded, that even though I hated them, I loved their stories and development. My favorite book in the series is "Heir of Fire", which is the third book when things really start to pan out and answer questions you may have had throughout the series.

One series that I see hasn't been recommended is the Unwind series by Neal Shusterman. It's a dystopian series about a world where, once they turn 13, unwanted kids can be unwound -- they get taken apart to be used as spare organs. It's absolutely terrifying, super creepy, and totally amazing!

I absolutely adore any Sarah Dessen books. I feel like they can be a little bit cheesy in the romance area, but for the most part the main focus of the book isn't on the romance but on the main characters internal problems or what every family problem she may be having.

I absolutely love the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. If you like YA fantasy, I highly recommend it. I read the first three books last month for the first time and it is now one of my all time favorite series. I didn't have high hopes at first and wasn't even sure if I was going to read it or not but I am so glad that I did!

I've read a lot of amazing books that I think you might enjoy.

Willow by Julia Hoban (someone else mentioned it and I just had to bring it up again because it truly is one of the most amazing books I've ever read).

Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick (very sad, and very real but a fantastic read nonetheless).

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (the one book I consider to be my bible. I seriously owe my life to this freaking book).

The Infernal Devices/ Mortal Instruments/ Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare (the best fantasy series of the post Harry Potter era in my opinion).

Until the End by Christopher Pike (contains a plot twist that'll blow your mind!)

ANYTHING WRITTEN BY JOHN GREEN (the man is a freaking gift from the gods, all his books are outstanding and I just love and adore him to death).

The Shadow Falls series by C.C Hunter (a fantasy series so addicting I consider it a healthy drug).

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (I guarantee it's going to be hard to put this one down).

Zero by Tom Leveen

Escape Theory by Margaux Froley (one of the best murder mystery books I've read in a long time)

Soul Screamer series by Rachel Vincent (like bean sidhe's (banshee's) ? Then this one is definitely for you!)

I can go on and on but I think this is enough for now. I've reviewed some of these books so if you wanna know more just go to my profile and have a look see.

I hope this helps you and I wish you the best of luck.

Happy Reading!
