A Storm of Swords, Help! (Mention of Red Wedding)

Post by SammiT »

Good evening everyone! Just a quick question, or maybe an introduction to a conversation. I started watching the series "A Game of Thrones" before I read the books, and knowing what was happening in the show kept me eager to read more in the books. However, it's been six months and I simply cannot get through A Storm of Swords, is anyone else having feelings like this? I feel like the chapters dedicated to Jon Snow drag along like sandpaper. I know the Red Wedding is coming and things like that usually keep me going, but I pick up the book, read a sentence, and put it away. I don't know if it's a reaction to all of the forced reading I'm doing at college, if maybe I need a light read to take my mind off of the heavy topics. But if anyone else has thoughts, let me know! Maybe the third book isn't as good as the others? I don't want to make a generalization without other opinions.
Happy Reading!

I've read all the books and I have to say that there are a lot of times when the action slows down and it's hard to continue reading or what is worse is when the story line of your favorite character isn't even in one of the books. But what makes up for that is the times when there is action.
I've never watched the series but I get how the books could be testing your patience when you're used to the fast pace of the show.
I would recommend you stick with it and continue reading the series, but I personally felt like the next book A Feast for Crows was the most boring book out of the whole series. :P
