Yes! I think the spirits of those who have passed linger in certain areas, or come visit from time to time.

Do I believe in spirits trapped on earth, unable to move on? Not really. But I do like the Torchwood theory of human emotion being its own powerful energy, that lingers in physical places. So I believe in the idea that a person's emotions can leave an imprint on the fabric of the world, resulting in what we interpret as ghosts. It would also explain why some people (say, those more empathic than others) could be more sensitive to the "presence" of ghosts while others aren't.

I do not believe in ghosts. I have debated many about this subject. My conclusion is that legitimate science says otherwise. Most will likely say that they have "experienced" something paranormal because when they heard a natural sound such as the wind or something falling over, their mind perceives it as the worst scenario, making a connection to knowledge of what could possibly be associated with what they are hearing. Anything else is likely either a hallucination, sleep paralysis, or someone playing a prank. I have even experienced such delusions. However, I am aware that feelings of fear, euphoria, and dreams are abstract. The idea of ghosts derives from old folktales about life after death. Somewhere in the middle of ghosts or ghost experiences having real elements to abstract ideas is something that can pave the way for a fictional horror story. There is a quote by Richard Dawkins that starts off with "Humans are an integral part of nature, the result of unguided evolutionary change". The ever so specific concept of "ghosts" existing is one in millions of other ideas. Since nature is self existing and everything ends, I find it absurd that a function such as the mind(consciousness) would have a purpose to be present after its purpose(living) has already ended and is already being replaced. In fact, I cannot think of an argument or evidence that would not at least be considered to be fallacies such as ad ignorantium or hasty generalization. I have nothing against those who believe in ghosts, but this is just my opinion.

There is a scientist that theorized that one explanation for ghosts could be infrasound. There are certain sounds that are too low for us to hear, but we can still feel the effects of them. They make us feel nervous, uneasy, paranoid and like we are being watched. If they vibrate on our eyeball, they can cause us to see stuff. Horror movies use infrasound all the time so that the audience feels nervous or uneasy at the right times. Things in our environment can produce these sounds as well. That being said, I've had experiences that have yet to be explained by science. I do believe in ghosts, but I also believe that some experiences can be explained logically.

Whilst I do not believe in ghosts I think it is comforting to think once we die, our spirits live on to look after those we leave behind.

I believe in ghosts , although I have yet to see one, I believe some spirits are left behind because they are lost, angry or not ready to let go of their loved ones.

I don't know for sure if I believe in ghosts or not. I do believe our loved ones watch over us and maybe make their presence known sometimes. I don't like to think that there could be evil ghosts or spirits out to get me or my family. I guess thats where I'm up in the air about it.

Between the ages of 6-16 I read a lot of books showcasing ghosts, goblins, ogres, demons, vampires, witches etc., and throughout this time I didn't think they were real, but I really hoped that they were. Due to the activities and pressures of my last year of high school and fist year of college I stopped reading and pushed the magical world of ghost, witches, and vampires aside.

The magical world though, caught up to me in my second semester of college when I met a group of witches (Wicca) and I learned a lot from them, as well as how modern day witches really were. When I started my second year in college, I moved with my parents to another country, and although the house where we moved in was absolutely fantastic (total dream home status), it was unfortunately haunted. We should have known something was wrong when we only paid $400,000 for a $1,000,000 house. I lived in that house for 5 years, and it was horrible. My family and I were constantly attacked during our time there and were lucky to make it out alive. This was thanks to a group of Brujas (witches) practitioners of Santeria, that I met at my job, who helped us out. Going into details would make this way to long, so I will leave it at this.

Writers will always write a fantastic tale, but I think they will always hold a little grain of truth.

I do believe in ghosts.

Last year, I was driving home with a few friends from a club at about 2am. I was the designated driver that night so I'm sure it wasn't a tequila hallucination, and I'd just drained a Monster so I was definitely far from tired.

We get to a red light near the interchange onto the highway, and I stop as one should despite there being no cars anywhere and the roads all being deserted. One can never be too safe, you know? So, that's when my friend in the passenger seat starts pointing at the robots and I notice the woman standing there.

At this point I think nothing of it. Prostitutes and homeless people are fairly common at streetlights at this part of the night, and everyone in the car can see her at this point so we're all just not paying much attention. Then, she starts approaching the car. I assume she wants a lift or something so I make sure the buttons are all down.

Yes, I understand some people give rides to hitchhikers, but I have a strict no hitchhikers in the car after dark policy. This is based on the logic that it's always dark somewhere in the world.

So she's coming towards my door and then I look back up at the traffic light, hoping it turns green. When I look back, she's gone, and my friends in the backseat are panicking. I have no idea what's going on but I know this b**ch couldn't have ran away and hid in the second it took me to check the light.

Then my friend in the passenger side starts hollering and I turn to look at this ghost lady creature tapping on the window. At this point, I'm freaking out, the drunks in the car are freaking out, she's smiling like something right out of Supernatural, and the light is still red.

I floored it, and since then we carry salt in the glove compartment. It was only later that I read up on the legend of Highway Sheila and was just, "well thank God we didn't let her in."

Sadly, however, one cannot argue ghost sighting as the reason a traffic camera snapped you driving through a red light. Still, the fine was worth it.

If I am to be logical and honest, then I don't believe in ghosts. However, I do sometimes get spooked in a dark place when I think I'm alone. I wonder if it is something inbuilt with all of us. Even the most pragmatic people can be spooked. I think that is why we like ghost stories, whatever our belief. :?

I do believe in ghosts even though I have not seen one. I have seen and heard weird things, but no actual ghost.

Yes I do. I believe in the spirit world and that those from beyond wish to make themselves known to us.

I'd like to believe in ghosts, because it would mean there's something after death. I'm really not sure what I do believe, though. Rational thinking tells me they don't exist, but then there are things like my mom's aunt speaking about being visited by my mom's grandma, and grandma telling her things that she shouldn't even have known about.
It would be nice, though, still being around after death. That is, unless the ghosts that come back are mean-spirited (hah, get it?). That'd be a little less awesome.
