There are also tourism and hospitality courses conducted in most tertiary learning institutions because you can no longer walk in off the street as I did. Friends got their current jobs through budget airlines front desk shift work.
Having worked in the travel industry my personal opinion is that it's not glamorous, it's long hours and you have to put up with every nitpicking traveller on this planet. And, after a time, you get sick of the inside of aircraft. Quite often the exotic destinations make up for it. Happy job hunting!
