Welcoming Atmosphere

Farmer Beau and his wife Bamma opens up their home to many animals. They provide food and shelter to the animals.

What have you done or would do to make someone feel welcomed?

I try to connect with people regardless of the setting. It puts me at ease whenever someone in a new place reaches out to me, or otherwise uses inclusive words or gestures. I try to do the same. Whether in my home or in a public place, a smile, eye contact, and concern for their well-being goes a long way to letting a person know they are welcome.

I just try to approach them the say way I would want to be approached.

I agree with what others have said: approach them as I want to be approached, maybe with a smile or a simple 'hello' gesture. I would invite them to converse with me and just try to make them feel as comfortable as possible.

For animals, I would have done exactly as Farmer Beau and Bamma.

I would approach them in a friendly manner with a big goofy smile on my face. Hopefully this would break the tension and make them feel more comfortable. It can just as easily scare them away too though. (Lol)

As the others have said in this post, I just try to treat people as I would want to be treated. I try very hard to be polite towards people and to not be judgmental no matter what the situation is. I have always believed that being kind to people is always the best way to go, even if they don't return the kindness, then at least I tried.

I agree with you! Especially on the part that even if they don't return the kindness, you still try. I just believe in staying positive always.

We even go so far as to feed animals to make friends with them.

Whenever I have people over to my home, I always exaggerate how relaxed I am and openly "break rules" (putting my feet up on the sofa, putting a glass on the table without a coaster, etc.) to show my guests what's allowable in my home so they don't have to ask for permission or feel anxious about being polite and respectful towards my things. I also try to attend to their needs before they have to work up the courage to ask for something.

Food would certainly make me feel welcomed! All you have to do is free me and I'll feel right at home!

I usually smile and sfart a conversation. I offer something like food or drink if I am in a restaurant or party. In a public place, I usually don't talk to strangers.

I introduce myself and ask if there's anything they need. I try to be as kind as possible.

If I were to bring someone into my home I would make them feel welcomed by letting them know they have full reign of my house. I would want them to feel like family, and that they would be welcomed to fix themselves something to eat whenever, without feeling the need to ask. I would make them feel at home and make them feel as comfortable as possible. There is nothing worse then when a person is trying to help you out, but you feel it's not from their heart, it's makes for an uncomfortable situation.
