"This book makes a convincing appeal for peace through its pages." I love descriptive writing with complex characters. This book sounds very good and like a good opportunity to learn more about Israel. Great review!

I've a sister and I can't imagine us being separated. Even the thought of losing her is giving me goosebumps. This plot is really speaking to me. I think I would enjoy reading this book.

This book sounds very interesting and I would love to read it fully. I liked that the author used allegories to reflect the historical and current conflicts between the Arabs and Israelis. I like that Israel is a female which goes along with the idea of Mother Earth or the Motherland. The conflict between the two sisters reflect the conflicts and misunderstandings by both sides in the region. I do agree that researching the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is a good idea before reading this book.

Thank you for this wonderful review. I sampled this book today and absolutely loved what I read. You mentioned brushing up on Israel's history. Do you have any recommendations?

I really would love to read this book, looks interesting especially the part where ruti falls in love with the Arab and hides her identity. It must be an interesting story.

The book is good and reminding us more about Jewish and Israel in the past. I congratulate the author for the review.

The author also reminds us working as a team is also a good show of succeeding in set goals. I like the framing of old and new cultures today. I can see great difference. Congrats.

Great review. Now normally historical fiction isn't my favorite but with all the 4 star reviews and this review. I'll be checking this out. The lives of 3 women and how Jews and Arabs interact sounds like a chance to learn about them under the guise of a fictional story. Congrats on being BOTD.

What a beautiful cover! It makes me want to read it. Historical fictions are the best, especially when the author has his facts right.

This is a topic and a subject to which many if us in the west are woefully ignorant. Books like this, which let you actually learn something while consuming a work of fiction, have immense power.

I like books that have complex characters, but I usually don't read historical fiction novels. I also like how the author was able to incorporate different cultures like the Jewish culture in her novel. Great job on the review!

Thanks for your review! It's sad to hear that the Israel-Palestine conflict has divided the two sisters, even though they are the only family they have left. This has probably happened too many times to count in real life.
