The first book of the Series “Tribe Warriors” is entitled as “The Bonding”, which was written by Imogen Keeper. This book is about the two main characters who met each other by having sex under some circumstances, but not those usual one-night stands that you read or see in movies. This series is full of romance, sci-fi and a mixture of erotica. Usually when we read books that contain hot, steamy scenes, lines usually goes “I thrust myself inside of this beautiful girl…” blah blah blah, but this book, it is much different, of course, still uses romantic lines but its straightforwardness actually makes you think that the author is very bold at using this style of typing. And this book is narrated by the third person.
This book involves Aliens, fictional planets and super high-tech devices. Unlike our reality, they interact with other species, friendly aliens and treat each other like normal citizens. Anyways, on to the story, Tam is a strong warrior that believes that he’d grow old and die alone, Tam is like your ideal protective boyfriend, he cares, understands, considerate and will rip out limbs if it means protecting you, and he is like Christian Grey of some sort, Christian Grey of Space, until he met Nissa. Now Nissa is an Ancient Princess of a planet that was invaded 500 years ago, she’s a loyal princess and unlike other princesses from other stories Nissa knows her duty, cares for her people and her home.
So while Tam was on a solo mission in space he found a space pod floating, he discovered that the inside of the pod was a beautiful sleeping girl (Nissa) and he decided to save her. Nissa had an illness that was spreading around her body due to cold; the only cure for it was to have sex with her, bluntly speaking. His serum was the only cure, but with a little twist, that would mean that he will be bonded to her, they would be mated. Since that moment Tam and Nissa’s life like dramatically changed, Tam was sure of his feelings toward Nissa, he wanted nothing else but her, but as for Nissa, she was confused with her feelings and still felt like she needed to do her duties as a princess. Their love was tested through their bond.
I like their romance, especially Tam’s romance, he was just my ideal boyfriend, he was possessive and protective, but he was considerate, very caring and he had that Christian Grey side which is actually kind of exciting while Nissa’s the character that frustrates you at some point. This book is full of seriousness, but after reading the book, if you generalize the book’s meaning about sex, it’s actually kind of funny like how sex can save life from that certain illness and how important their so-called serum is. And when we hear the word bonding and mate, we usually think that it was those traditional ways of the bonding like once you lay your eyes on that certain person, something inside you snaps that you just knew that she is your mate and that bond is unbreakable, but in this book, that word gives you a whole lot of other meaning and system which I think is a smart move and a unique twist.
I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because the narration was actually kind of an okay but it expressed more on the person’s thoughts and feelings and less than on the physical actions that he or she is currently making, making the reader slightly confused with what is actually happening. And well, it’s straightforwardness with the steamy scenes makes the reader confused whether they really are making love or lustful sex. Though I am pretty sure that people who likes it erotic and straightforward would be comfortable to read this book, but to others who don’t like it might cringe at those steamy scenes.
