While historical novels can sometimes grab your attention, the description of settings and characters for Envoy of Jerusalem left me a bit cold. Shakespeare had this opening down to a science. In a course I took about his works, I learned to glean important information from the introductions Shakespeare provided. While we can't all have his depth, when it comes to clear writing, the effort should be made.

Great review. The sample I read was interesting and captured my attention. There were a lot of names to remember and how they related to one another, but once you had the connection down, it was great reading.

Thanks for the honest and detailed review. I am intrigued by this story because I watched a movie about the three characters, Sybilla, Balian d’Ibelin, and Sultan Salah ad-Din but the plot is almost different. I will surely love this story.

This sounds like an interesting plot, but it probably isn't something I would enjoy reading especially with the errors and the confusing name changes. Thanks!

While I enjoy reading books about the Crusades, the switching between names would probably confuse me too much to really become interested in it. Other than that, it seems like a great story.

I just finished reading the sample and I found this book to be very interesting. This review has been done very well. I feel bad about how long it is and the name concept. I do too get confused and sometimes even forget the names if there are too many or if they keep changing.

Just finished reading both the sample and review. The review is well written and helpful concerning the name switches. I will keep this in mind since this is the type of book I enjoy reading, historical fiction. I know some about the crusades but haven't read alot of fictional stories about it. After reading the sample, it has me hooked, though I would like to begin with the first one since this is the third in the series.

The dynamic of Balian's character, as well as his relationship to his wife, Dowager Maria Zoe, sounds like two interesting aspects of the fictional novel. I look forward to sampling this based on your review!

Looks like a good historical novel. It's always important for the author to do her research in order for the facts to be correct! Thanks for a nice review.

I don't like war stories. Anyways the review is quiet good. I don't think I would be reading this book anytime soon.

I have read it's sample. OMG! Too lengthy but interesting. I think it is looking like tribulation period in BIBLE. When shaitan take over the world and who survived in this time without loosing their faith in Real God. They will be taken by God in heaven. It's just a description of tribulation period, that's not mean that Envoy of Jerusalem is same to same looking like that. I mean to say that it's story line looking like that. Friends if you like historical fiction, try Envoy of Jerusalem. Thanks. :tiphat:

This is not something I would enjoy, especially ones with the crusades.

Thanks for your review! I've not read a book about the Crusades either. I love it when a book holds your interest all the way through to the end.
