Although the ideas of magic realism and mysticism are not one of my go to genres, this sounds like it was good enough to keep you plowing through the less than stellar audio book reading. Thanks for the review.

Thank your the review. I'm disappointed regarding the narration being monotone and not having a backstory on the main characters.

Great review! I like books about native legends so I am going to take a look at this one. You made an interesting point that the lack of backstories for the characters wasn't a drawback in this case, since you got to know them through their interactions in the story. I like that as sometimes too much backstory can bog down the plot.

I always enjoy a book with a good plot and character development. Having a long commute, I grabbed the audio version as well. While her narration isn't the best, it isn't terrible either. Having listened to a lot of audio books, I have gotten used to dealing with narrators that are just ok. It is a rare treat when the narration is excellent. Thanks for the review.

Interesting. The first thing I thought was how I haven't listened to that many audiobooks, so I really appreciated your detailed feedback on what did and didn't work about it. Nicely done!

Aloha,

Kudos with your review! Mahalo to the author for the free book. I just read chapter one. It seems interesting based on a few Native American references. Sarah is a child that has to be damaged to have an attiude like that. I am curious what this road adventure will do for Tom, his friends, and Sarah. I will read this book down the road.

This book sounds very fascinating and your review was seamless. I like that the story takes place in Washington State and the woods of the Olympic Peninsula which are both beautiful locations. I also liked that the story uses mysticism and mystery to grab the readers attention all the way until the end of the book.

It's a shame about the robotic narrator's voice. I'm not usually a fan of audio books and things like that usually turn me off from listening to them. I'm glad that the story was really interesting though. Great review!

I enjoy listening to audio books but when the readers are monotone it does affect your enjoyment of the story. This sounds like a very intriguing story line. Thanks for the interesting and thoughtful review, your enjoyment of the book is contagious.
