I liked your informative review! The storyline not only describes a unique culture, it also sounds
like different genres may be involved, and it sounds like an interesting book to read.

A very interesting tale about a strong woman struggling to make her way in a male dominated world. Romance and mystery entwined into one. I didn't really think this book was for me, but after reading your review, and the sample pages maybe I should give it a go!

I read the first couple of pages of this book and was extremely bored. Maybe I should give it another chance. Thanks for the great review.

Based on your review, this could be a really good book about a young woman detective. Besides, it's historical fiction, my favorite genre.

Great review. I was also a little wary of reading this book as it's very outside of the scope of fiction I normally read. After reading your review, I've had renewed interest. Thanks!

I would certainly love to read this book, firstly, for its simple plot and having its thematic concern anchored on pressing social concern. Racism, ethnicity and gender imbalance continue to dominate literary discourse. This is because racial supremacy (despite its obvious ungodliness) remains a vital component of Western sociology, just as ethnic jingoism remains an albatross in heterogeneous African settings. It appears that Meas is not really convinced on issue of gender struggle. First he creates Anjali who aims to developing herself solely for the purpose of confronting rapists and possibly murderers which in any case is sacrificed on the altar of emotion. This book is worth its worth and the review, awesome.

Thanks for the review. It's amazing that there are so many different genres in one book. I am glad that you finally decided to read this even though you weren't excited based on the cover blurb. At least you know now that it was great and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

The setting of this one definitely intrigues me. I'm always up for reading about different cultures. It sounds like this story may be a little graphic, but I think that might make it feel more realistic. Interesting review!

The Governor's Daughter by Sambath Meas sounds like the type of book I like because it combines elements of historical fiction, mystery, and culture. I liked this review and I will include this title in my to-read list of books.

The review is quite enticing. The sample started with a historical background that was a little dragging but it was necessary to get a feel of the historical period. This seems like a book to remember.

This sounds amazing; you're right that there are very few books written set in Cambodia about Cambodians! What an awesome glimpse into a very different culture!
