Since YA novels are often set in fantasy and/or futuristic settings, it is a unique twist to see one set in Cambodia during 1920's. Thanks for the review.

A very nice review, sounds like an interesting story. I have read very little of historical content from this era and locale!

I am a fan of historical fiction, so I think I will give this book a chance. I enjoy learning about other cultures, so The Governor's Daughter seems appealing just based on that, but then there is also a female character who desires a career at a time in history when that was not expected for females. I am looking forward to reading the book. Thanks for the review!

You have convinced me to try this book out. I'm in love with historical fiction these days and absolutely love those (that are well done) that tend to teach me a bit about the world at the same time. Thanks for the review.

Thanks ALynnPowers for such a complete review of The Governor's Daughter by Sambath Meas. I have never read a historic novel based in Cambodian culture either, but your review made me read the free sample. I find it engaging from the beginning. I found it very interesting for the data about the historic moment, but mainly because of the different relationship the main character maintains with her father and mother, being both of different cultural level. Anjali is a young woman who is being educated by her father in a completely different way than her Mother was, and I find this intriguing to learn how this character develops. :tiphat:

I love historical fiction novels, but on top of that I love young adult novels, detective novels, and novels about overcoming adversities so this book is right up my alley. Your review of this book simplifies things and makes it clear to me that yes, I do want to read this book.

This sounds like an excellent book that gives historical fiction lovers a window into a different era of history that is usually not presented. Thanks for your excellent review.

I'm not a huge reader of historical fiction either but it seems as though this book teaches a lot about Cambodia - I look forward to the sample.

The fact that this piece consists of mystery and suspense is making me fall in love with the story line.Though the author claimed to have been so complicated while summarizing, but it's just so cute and sharp.

What happens at last? Our journeys of life meet at some point. 'Official Review: The Governor's Daughter by Sambath Meas,' seems to be a healthy encouragement for mysteries.
