This book "City of Redemption" i must tell you portrays Liz as a woman who needs freedom from her past mistakes, but she can't denie the fact that all she has been hiding from is coming back to her to an extent that she was imprisoned. I pity for Liz Mac may, the story is a tragedy of Liz.

When a mother is blamed for her son's death and she's being abandoned by her husband, what do you think will be her state? in search of happiness, Liz decided to move herself to another country, without knowing that the major problems will start from there. As life goes on she fortunately found this family, she became entitled with the family, because she taught she will find what she's been looking for, but life seems worst than before, how will she cope with her past and how does she face drug addiction in this situation, as it is she need no more police for an investigation.

I agree, it's not a deal breaker. Seems a bit like a missed opportunity to me because I've very visual. On the other hand, if someone is very audial (audio? oriented to hearing), they might hear all the songs in their head and find that the books evokes San Francisco very richly.Kdonegan91 wrote:Fantastic and informative review! I enjoyed the sample as well. Too bad the author does not go into more detail regarding the scenes. However, this does not seem like a deal breaker.

Oh my goodness, what a tragedy. I am very sorry about your child. Completely understand if you wanted to give this one a pass.TIGER999 wrote:Having lived through both my child's murder & the Summer of Love, there's certainly a lot I can relate to in this book...but it may be a little too much for me. I appreciated the in-depth review however...great job!

I hope you are enjoying the book.Shantelle35 wrote:Thank you for this fantastic review of City of Redemption! The novel sounds like a heart-twisting explosion of events, and Liz sounds a like me... had kids young, very naïve, rebellious tendencies, etc. I cannot fathom ever losing a child and it is, quite honestly, my biggest fear, so my heart aches and breaks for Liz. I am hesitant yet excited to begin reading the adventure she is on and happy music is woven into the story as music is also a huge part of my life.
I didn't have my kids particularly young, but even so, I find it's very hard to be responsible enough to be a parent. It's a hard, cruel world, where a few hours of childish irresponsibility like Liz's can bring consequences that seem all out of proportion to her "crime."
