This non-fiction book entitled Followed My Star is written by AR Annahita, an Iranian immigrant in America. Aside from being an author, she is also a photographer and a philosopher. It is being claimed that this book will guide you through self-exploration and seeking solutions to different problems in our society.

This book is the third volume of the Followed My Star series. However, this is a stand-alone book so anybody can read this one without reading the previous volumes.

The first thing that came to my mind when I read the title was that this might be an inspirational, self-help book or something similar to that. However, after only having read the first chapter, I immediately realized that this book is none of those. From the first chapter to its last, the book is basically like a compilation of essays regarding the author's personal view about a range of sensitive topics. Such topics include politics, freedom, religion, race and so on.

This book has 19 chapters and what I can say is that each chapter has no particular theme of its own. Every chapter is just simply a continuation of the previous one. As for the writing itself, the author made good points and they were delivered quite straightforwardly. There is a lot of conviction on her writing which might be a little intimidating for others, especially for young readers out there. Therefore, if you're going to read this book, I highly suggest that you should be open-minded. That is mainly because the author's viewpoints might be quite different from yours.

There are also some inconsistencies in the spacing between the paragraphs and some paragraphs are way longer than others. There are also a few mistakes committed in punctuation and in the structure of sentences. Some sentences can be quite confusing that I had to reread those parts in order not to misunderstand their context.

I'd also like to point out that it was good that the author shared how people actually react when they hear that she was born in Iran. This is actually an eye-opener for those who treat or look differently at people born in Islamic countries.

Generally, I don't like nor dislike this book. I would still recommend this to readers who want to gain some new insights about the range of topics previously mentioned. I can say that it is very insightful to read the perspective of an author who is of different race and culture. Overall, I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. The reason I cannot give it a higher score is because the chapters were not properly outlined and it could have been more organized.

Yes, indeed. Honestly, I even had a hard time reading it from start to finish.
