The book is about a teenage girl who learns about her special powers on her 18th birthday. I'm way over 18 but the book was BOTD on July 5, my birthday. Coincidence? I'll put the book on my want-to-read list. It might have a hidden message for me.

Prophase: A Present Tale" within the confinement of this review does not capture much of imaginary world or supernatural events, hence the concept fantasy may be entirely a private opinion. From the protagonist Piper, through Charlie, Chris to Lisa, each of these characters catches interesting personality traits. To all intents and purposes, Piper actions, inaction and world view seem to have been conditioned by the exigencies of the moment. It is therefore easy to relate with the force of circumstances as being canvassed by the author. The review is impressive.

When I read the title, the first thing that popped in my mind was mitosis.. hehe! Though I don't think there's a connection to the story. Why is there a cat in the cover? Your review makes the story seems interesting but I guess I'm more intrigued about the cat and the title

This book sounds like an entertaining way to approach the very important subjects of coming-of-age and the power we all have within us, whether we know it or not. I'm also fascinated by fantasy worlds that play with light and auras, although I fear, based on this review, that this book does not develop its world well enough. I'm still putting it on my "to-read" list for when life slows down enough for me to catch up on my reading. I could never resist a story about the quiet outsider becoming a hero.

Great review. I agree with you that the book is a coming-of-age fantasy novel.
The pictures add an interesting view to sections of the story, and add an element
of science fiction. The book sounds like it's worth reading.
