I love it too! I probably wouldn't visit all the places I dream of visiting, but at least I can read about them. :)

Absolutely yes. That's the easiest way to learn about other people. Even after reading, if its a place you would love to visit sometime in the future, it gives you a perfect imagination of what to expect.

Yes I love reading about places I've never been, in a way it makes me travel to those places through fantasy.

Yes, I enjoy books that take you to new places. Off the top of my head, I can mention Eat, Pray, Love (the parts about Rome, Bali and India), the novel, Chocolat with its little French village and The Forty Rules of Love (the parts about Konya, Turkey in 13th century) were so vividly and beautifully described which made them so interesting to read. :D

New Orleans.
So many authors have such a love for New Orleans. I love when they can make you feel like you're walking through the French Quarter, or visiting Marie Laveau's grave.
Pronouns: She/Her

What is grief, if not love persevering?

Grief is just love with no place to go.

I very much enjoy reading about places I've never been as long as it feels real. That may sound odd as, if I haven't been there, how can I know how realistic the details are, but if the description of the foreign place feels too touristy or like a Wikipedia article, I can't get into it. I love things like snippets of local politics, people milling about speaking the language, descriptions of local businesses and small cities. Anything that can make it feel as alive as possible.

When an author succeeds in doing this, it makes me feel excited and like I want to go there, even if it is somewhere I had never considered going before. Even if the place the author is describing they clearly have a negative opinion of, it still makes me want to visit if the description is good enough!

I guess I'm just a sucker for well written setting details

There are great authors who can encourage or persuade people to visit the place personally because of how these great authors described them in a crafted detail.

It doesn't sounds odd at all and I feel the same.

I love to read about places not because they are tourist destinations but because they are places of good and peace loving people.

I personally love reading about places that I know I'll never go because they are purely fictional. Hogwarts is a great example of that. I love just using my imagination and imagining that it's a place that I would be able to visit.

I love reading books about places I've never been before. It's the next best thing besides actually being there for someone who plans on travelling alot in the future. My favourite book that describes a place I've never been is Life of Pi. It just depicted India so beautifully, it just made me want to go there even more.

My favourite book is Escape by Belle Ami, the way she describes Iran mostly the touristic festures in Tehran like the Grand Bazaar located on the Arg Square, makes you feel like your already in that place. Though I haven't gone.
