I do enjoy, though I've never been to Morocco, the description of Marrakech sounds quite similar to my hometown. Makes me want to visit just to spot the differences.

I like reading books that depicts places I've never been before. Not only do I get to imagine the fascinating sceneries but I also learn about different cultures.

My dream is to travel around the world. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to that that for now and so reading books take me to those places I long to reach.

I've only started reading books and as of now my favorite is My Trip to Adele because I was brought to Jordan, Italy, Morocco, and Las Vegas, all of which I haven't been to before. I learned about different practices and cultures in those countries and I even did further readings to know more about their culture.

I really enjoyed the musical trip around the world, thanks to that book.

If I were to merely read books set in the places I've been to, then I couldn't read very many books. I love a book's capacity to transport me to places I've never been to, or to places that exist only in the realm of imagination. It's why I started reading in the first place.

I enjoy reading books about places that I have never been to. However, my desire to visit the places described in books depends on how the author has depicted the place. I have long wished to travel to Italy after reading Dan Brown's books featuring Robert Langdon. On the contrary, since reading The Girl on the Train, I have found Witney and Ashbury in the UK quite dark.

I like your comment. Reading about people and places can also bring us to the past and to the future.

I like reading about places I've never been to not only for the scenery, but also the cultural aspect I probably won't have the chance to experience. For example, the food, the language, and the little, daily interactions that are sometimes subtly different from our own. It's always interesting to read and learn about stuff like that.

I like reading about places I've never been to because at least the author gives me a bit of some knowledge about if and some times its easy for me to construct an imaginary view of the place depending on how the author describes the place in writing.

I do actually. It gives me a sense of the culture, the people and languages of that place if written well. If not, it just gets annoying. I don't like fantasies though, I prefer real life locations.

being the tourist I am, reading books about places I've never been to is my cup of tea. I find it enjoyable traveling to a place whose background I've already studied because it makes my navigation quite easy.

Yes, I love reading books about new places. It helps me learn about what obtains there before eventually getting onboard.

Reading about places that are familiar allows me to feel nostalgic and allows me to reminisce. However, I do really enjoy reading about new places because it is exciting discovering these places through the eyes of the characters.

Although I love the homely, or in some cases nostalgic, feeling of reading descriptions of places I am familiar with, I love being introduced to a new setting through a novel. It is exciting, spurs my imagination and inspires me to travel - for example, in the most recent book I read 'The Keys to Tetouan', the description of Tetouan was magical and captivating, and shrouded in a glorious, ethereal mystery due to the fact I had never before visited, or even heard of, this place.

I love reading anything that has a story to tell. So naturally, settings in a story can't be skipped when I'm reading 'em. I especially love the realization of familiarity when I see or hear something about a specific place in real life which I'd previously read about in a book.
