Brian O'Hare's 'The 11.05 Murders', is a completely mind-blowing book, with its fair share of mystery and suspense embodied in a unique manner. It delves into a series of investigative and detective work that helps in the solving of three dangerous silmutaneous murders of Fitzpatrick, Pete Shaw and Kelly that occur in a similar pattern.

The solving of all these three murders is under the watch of Strandtown Police Station, with its team of detectives led by DCI Sheehan. At the centre of all these is WDS Denise Stewart, a recently promoted police officer. Her determination to endure the constant critics from such a male dominated career from her previous job is certainly admirable. After her promotion, she is able to experience a changed environment of care and support from her new male colleagues.

The three murder cases are intertwined in one way or another. The investigations takes one to the events that took place twelve yeats ago concerning Lynda Bell. There also exist interesting twists of suspects like a Mr.Weir, also known as 'The Bat', the Duffner brothers and Edward Darly. Moreso,at the core of all these is the young successful barrister, Mr.Turner. The murders lead into revelations that would definitely keep the reader yearning for more. Who exactly is the murderer? What is the fate of WDS Stewart in connection with her secret informant and stalker ?

The book is simply thrilling and interesting. It is one that you would not wish to keep aside. I really admire the way the murderer was there at the core of every step yet it was until the last minute that he was discovered. The championing of women rights against male brutality is automatically something encouraging. However, Brian in his novel is so keen in promoting the welfare of the girlchild through the experiences of WDS Stewart and Mrs Weir. This has sidelined and neglected the boychild who has been portrayed as someone who inflicts fear and intimidation to women. Surprisingly, this has been well dealt with, with the incorporation of DCI Sheehan and Tom Allen who treat Stewart well and respect her in all mannerisms.

I rate this book as 3 out of 4. This is because of the creativity and mystery involved in it. When you touch this book you would simply never want to put it aside. I would recommend this book for the people who precisely admire the adventures behind every detective work.

You have a point about the feminist slant of the book. I agree that a lot of build up was made at the beginning of the book on it for the part of Denise but there was little to no exposition on the part of the killer - a boychild hung up on the past. I rated it two out of four stars.

Wow! It sound very mysterious. We do not come across such thrilling novels very frequently. Definitely going to read this one.
